Donnybrook, Dublin 4 is a vibrant little village on the outskirts of Dublin City Centre. It hosts an array of pubs, restaurants and shops along with the popular Herbert Park. Herbert Park is a beautiful park where you can find different events, markets on a Sunday and a quirky little coffee shop nestled in the trees, a great spot to sit and watch the world go by. We are located around 20 minutes walk from Dublin city or a 5 minute bus ride. Known for its chic nature and air of tranquility, Donnybrook is fast becoming one of the more popular areas for visitors to Dublin as it is close enough to enjoy the hustle and bustle of the city during the day and still be able to enjoy a peaceful nights sleep each evening.
Did you know that Donnybrook (Domhnach Broc) got its name from the infamous Donnybrook Fair markets that took place between 1204 and 1855. The markets were originally intended for traders however it became more of a carnival and stomping grounds for drinking and fighting hence the reasons it was shut down. If you look up the word Donnybrook Fair in the English dictionary you will see that it means a fight or a brawl and was given this meaning in association with the fair.
You can find a painting of the Donnybrook Fair on display in the National Gallery of Ireland.

"In a city of good B&Bs, Donnybrook Hall is one of the best. A picturesque building, a home-like feel, and a stellar welcome from Terry and Martina. The house is decorated in a simple way, sympathetic to its Victorian heritage, and rooms follow the same vibe. It's not in the center, but it is in a nice local neighborhood, and it's an easy and quick bus (14 minutes to St Stephen's Green), or a 30-minute stroll into the sights."
"Donnybrook Hall has a beautiful location in residential and traditional part of Dublin, with excellent bus connection to the city centre. Feels more like "living" in Dublin than "staying" in Dublin. Very comfortable bed, lovely tea facility and last but not least -modern, clean, well organised bathroom. I really appreciate the small shelf in the shower where you could put your shampoo, etc - one of the small things that make your stay more comfortable and unfortunately, forgotten by many hotels/guesthouses. So another big plus for the Donnybrook Hall. The most amazing thing is the attitude of the owner&staff. Very warm, kind and welcoming. I will never forget their fantastic cup of tea offered to me when I arrived after very stressful experience. Delicious tea, sympathy offered were amazing. Thank you. Even if I were a millionaire and could afford the most expensive hotels and rates, I would still choose Donnybrook Hall. Everything was perfect."
